Insane Espresso-Ginger Snaps · Wednesday July 4, 2007 by colin newell

Sweet and chewy ginger snaps with a kick of caffeine

Looking for a sweet cookie that will leave your pancreas begging for mercy? Check out my Ginger-snap recipe – They have a well defined ginger bite, a warm dark sugar tone with just a hint of coffee.

They are great warm from the oven with a giant mug of dark sumatra coffee – or Earl Grey tea. The choice is yours.
This recipe appears to have made about 2 dozen cookies but results will vary.

1 Cup brown or demerara sugar
3/4 Cup soft butter
1 Egg
1/4 Cup Molasses
2 Cups Flour
2 tsp. Baking Powder.
1 tsp Ground Ginger
1 tsp Cinnamon
1 tsp. Ground Cloves
1/2 tsp. instant espresso powder
1/2 tsp salt

DIRECTIONS

Cream together the sugar & margarine.
Add the egg & mix together well.
Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well together.
Roll into small balls (about 1 in. diameter), then roll in sugar to coat.
Put on cookie sheet & bake at 350 F for 6 or 7 to 9 mins. Cookies will flatten out somewhat as they cook. Cookies are golden brown when cooked.

Enjoy and enjoy. And remember, the longer they cook the snappier they get.

More Gas prices in Victoria B.C. Canada - taking it up the wazooGas prices in Victoria B.C. Canada

The Jubilee Esso full-serve at 1669 Fort Street in Victoria dropped its price from 129.9 to 125.9 overnight…

obviously in response to the unending pressure that this blog and others were placing on their business.

Yea. Right.

Still, it is a condescending and pathetic tip of the gas cap to consumers… I mean, they are ripping us off to the tune of about 30 cents a litre.

What can you do? How about this:

-Buy nothing from the gas station other than gas. No slushies. No potato chips. No windshield washer fluid. No candy bars. Nothing.

-Buy no more than 20 dollars worth of gas and pay in pennies and small change.

-Buy $20 of gas and park next to the air filling station… and spend a 1/2 hour filling your tires… or cleaning your car.

-Walk to your nearest gas station and place a picket on the sidewalk. Seriously. Gather your friends together. Peaceful protest is a powerful thing.

Google photo above. That was too easy

Gas prices in Victoria - 5 · Thursday May 17, 2007 by colin newell

Gas prices in Victoria B.C. Canada - taking it up the wazooIn a remarkable turn of events, I have just been mailed a list of future gas prices in the Victoria area.

This is truely incredible. It appears to have come from an industry insider… an obviously confidential document… describing sceduled price increases for the Victoria area right down to the decimal point…

Wow. Check this out readers:

May 25, 2007 – 131.5 / litre regular
May 31, 2007 – 134.9 / litre regular
June 7, 2007 – 136.9 / litre regular
June 21, 2007 – 142.5 / litre regular

Geepers. I could go on… but it would not be in my best interest to reveal more… this document uncovers what the gas prices in Victoria will be through the summer right into September.

I would be putting my life in danger by telling you what the gas price will be in the first week of September.

On a more serious note… CAA insiders claim that these all too obvious pre-long-weekend gas price increases are more than a little suspicious.

Cathy Hay, senior gasoline market analyst at MJ Ervin and Associates in Calgary, said most gasoline markets are pretty close to peak prices and the notion that gas prices jump prior to a long weekend is an urban myth.

An urban myth huh? Right..
Right…

Gas Prices in Victoria B.C. Canada

Victoria B.C. Canada fucked at the pumpSo. They are at it again.

Lemme see. What did we see on the way home from work:

$.129.5 at the Oak Bay Junction Esso station

And via one of the many gas price monitoring websites…
$1.36.5 in Ganges, Salt Spring Island
$1.07.5 in Dawson Creek

That is about 30 cents on every litre of gas purchased in Victoria that is being stolen from you by the gas station leeches.

Your provincial and federal governments are looking the other way because they are reaping a huge benefit from the taxes collected.

So in some ways, you are being robbed twice. Maybe more.

It is patently obvious that all the gas stations in Victoria B.C. Canada are in collusion to fix prices.
The gas industry in Canada reported over 100 billion in profit last year. That is money taken from you, the consumer.

And the rip-off continues. And will continue.
It is, afterall… government sanctioned.

Meantime the government of British Columbia is about to vote themselves a 29% raise…
and services for women and children get slashed.

In an economy that is truely booming with virtually no unemployment, why do I feel like we are living in a nightmare?

What do you think?
