Discovery coffee on Amphion - ground zero for pure pleasure

Someone has to get this title… so let’s do it with a picture.

I refuse to use Twit-Pic because… hey, I have my own server and I like to keep my hands on my photos – real possessive that way…

Anyway – if you asked me right now where the best damn cup of coffee is in Victoria B.C. Canada — Victoria as in downtown or near downtown Victoria (not Vancouver Island which is another category…)

I would say… without a moments hesitation…

Discovery Coffee – either on Oak Bay (where I practically live…)
or on Discovery Street downtown.

And although the music is often too loud (even for a middle aged short haired hippie like me…)

The coffee is… I beg your pardon… Fucking dope.

It just is. Enjoy life. Drink Discovery coffee. And listen to those around you.

  1. Got that right! That’s why we use their coffee. They have “it” mastered.

  2. I’m with you on this pick. A very class act AND they roast their own which definitely earns them some bonus points.I would say that Discovery is maybe even almost as fine as my personal numero uno which would be HABIT.

  3. As downtown cafes are concerned, HABIT is a place that even a geezer like I can seem to derive some pleasure from – As far as the quality of the coffee is concerned — it is almost too close to call – DISCO edges out HABIT by a click because of the coffee and sheer brilliance of their single origins. I might even suggest that HABIT’s espresso might narrowly win over DISCO’s – but I no longer really partake in espresso – there is too much to learn and enjoy with the origins. Either way, if you go to HABIT or DISCO… you’re mind is going to be blown… either way. Thanks Tony!

  4. And, we know you are serious about this because, for maybe the first time, (or at least not something you do often), you spelled out that four letter word!

  5. Funny – I was thinking about you last night – and whenever I do that, you appear.

    Cool!

  6. Sorry to keep dragging this blog back to the subject of coffee, it is the reason I started coming here. Stopped in at Drumroaster yesterday and had the best latte on the planet, period. Also a great panini and picked up some beans to celebrate Canada Day with. Drumroaster coffee, my new Moccamaster, a bottle of Burrowing Owl Merlot for later in the day. Happy Birthday Canada, how good can it get.

  7. Actually — fortuitous of you to do so because despite the fact that the readership at the coffeecrew blog is on a steady increase, I think people get sick of reading my angry rants about the Man… so… henceforth, I am going to drop the political stuff and create a new blog on another domain name — and make coffee.bc.ca truly Food Fun and Endless Summer only.

  8. Just change your home page to give us links to coffee, food, rants, and, stuff. Then we can all enjoy our favorite parts of your blog, please don’t stop ranting, and by the way, there is a coffee crew site devoted to coffee only. Peace.

  9. Point taken Jeanie… Jeanie, for the newcomers here, is the President of the coffeecrew fan club and has been following the site for a long, long time!
