George W Bush rant · Thursday February 14, 2008 by colin newell
WASHINGTON (AFP) – US President George W. Bush said Thursday he plans to veto legislation passed by the Senate to bar the CIA from using harsh interrogation methods including waterboarding.
“The reason I’m vetoing the bill — first of all, we have said that whatever we do … will be legal,” Bush said in an interview with the BBC.
We all know that torture does not work. It is inhumane and pointless.
But, you know. I would entertain, at least for a moment, seeing George W. Bush get waterboarded.
I mean. What’s good for the goose… is good for the idiot.

Gas Price Rant #7 · Friday February 1, 2008 by colin newell
Exxon Mobil Corp: (NYSE:XOM) posted the largest annual profit by a U.S. company Friday — US$40.6 billion — as the world’s biggest publicly traded oil company benefited from historic crude prices at year’s end.
There’s no business on the planet that gushes forth more profit than selling oil—nothing even close…
And if I were speaking (to their North American customers…) on behalf of Exxon (via this blog), I would say…
Thank-you! Oh, thank-you! You lovely people you! Thank-you so much for paying these obscenely inflated prices at the pump.
Thank-you! Thank-you for not uttering a word while we price-fix in communities all over North America! Thank-you! Thank-you!
We love you, we really do!
And we know that as we artificially raise the price higher and higher, you good people will be there for us – your hearts and wallets open!
Oh thank-you! God bless! Thank-you!
Seriously though: When Lee Raymond retired from Exxon last year, he received a staggering 400M Dollars. link
I can almost hear him singing… Oh, thank-you! You wonderful people, thank-you!
Fcuk.

Vancouver iPhone scambuster · Friday February 1, 2008 by colin newell
This was all over the newspapers this morning…
A guy in Vancouver is allegedly scamming people over the much-in-demand iPhone.
A website, based in Vancouver, attacks the scammer head-on.
Interestingly, the scam artist uses intimidation on top of deceptive business practices; sells a products that he does not have and then bullies the victim into silence with threats of frivolous lawsuits if the victim speaks up – classic sociopath behavior.

Canada Post Rant #1 · Thursday January 31, 2008 by colin newell
Imagine you are sitting down to dinner with your loved ones…
like you do every day.
Except for one small detail.
Today a stranger wanders into your home and shovels extra plate-fulls of food for you to eat… whether you want to or not.
You have no choice about this extra food.
Or do you?
And so it is with Canada Post and all the bull*hit junk mail they ladle into your inbox every day.
They say that Canadians, in general, want junk mail.
They say we need it. Community announcements. Public Service stuff. It is all there. Every day. We need it in our diet.
Nonsense I say.
Did you know that you can put a red dot on your mailbox to say NO to junk mail. Junk mail is, as we know, mail that has no specific address – and occupant is not you… so do not worry.
A Vancouver businesswoman is putting her money on the line to raise awareness about your junk-mail options.

In the meantime, care for more mashed potatoes?
