Air travel rant #7 Satan takes charge of all the World's problems · Monday June 23, 2008 by colin newell
The United States said Tuesday that it will require visitors who are allowed to enter the country without visas to register biographical details online at least three days before they travel.
The United States said this? not any person in particular? No wait…
Photo right – Homeland Security Fuhrer & Uber Alles dude Michael Chertoff in a moment of celebration makes Wank wank wa-a-a-a-nk noises. Seriously, I have no idea what I mean by that…
Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, who announced the changes, said they will help the United States boost the security of its visa-free travel program by allowing the government to screen visitors before they travel. Currently, visitors fill out paper forms en route and are screened by U.S. customs agents upon arrival.
Right. This should nab terrorists. Just read the bio info as they enter the country:
Name: Michael Chertoff | Place of Birth: Transylvania | Year of Birth:1832
Reason for visiting the U.S. of A. – Blood…. blood… blood
Occupation: blood sucker, night rider, bat, patriot, terrorist, government employee
Ok Mister Michael. I got those first 4 things and that last thing…
That 5th thing… the terrorist…
that entry gives us a bit of pause. Could you expand on that a bit?
Yea. This is gonna work. Brilliant Michael. Brilliant.
Chertoff (grammar school photo at left) said the new system will allow the United States to determine ahead of time if travelers pose a security risk. He called the system a “21st Century model for facilitating travel to the United States.”
“It’s very important to us to remain a welcoming country,” he said, but added: “potential terrorists do not come easily labeled or identified.”
A welcoming country? Gimme a break. The U.S.A. has been actively discouraging visitors since shortly after 9/11 and continues to make it more and more uncomfortable – even for residents of the United States of America – a people who are assumed to be guilty of being terrorists and have to be “validated” before they can enter and exit their own country… and are even being spot-checked within their own country.
Wank! Wank! Wa-a-a-a-nk!

Air travel rant #5 website of the month TSA Blog · Wednesday June 18, 2008 by colin newell
Terrorists Evolve. Threats Evolve. Security Must Stay Ahead. You Play A Part.
The TSA Blog deserves a metal for effort, an Oscar for the acting and some kind of of American online literary award for a stunning, brazen and breathtaking piece of fiction.
The TSA Blog is the mouth-piece of the TSA and has voluntarily opened itself up to the wrath of the American traveling public with its open-comment system:
In a blog entry Why is ID important for security? – the readership takes the TSA to a verbal slaughter and it is so stimulating to hear America speak that it gives me shivers…
If the security systems actually worked then there would be no need to check ID. This is just another attempt to control the American people and steal more and more of our rights. We need to take back some more essential liberty.
Wake me up when the TSA actually does something that actually increases airport security! (Although I still stand by the opinion that if someone ever tries to hijack an airplane ever again, every person on that plane will stand up and beat that hijacker into a bloody pulp.)
Too many holes in this feeble attempt to say that it enhances security. Show me just ONE terrorist that you have apprehended. Or maybe you can use the argument that they are scared away.
And on and on and on and on and on – read for yourself
Someone summed it up on the radio today with a new expression: The militarization of the Canadian airspace has led to a dilution of civil liberties and freedom… There are now 3000 Canadians on a no-fly list, for reasons that cannot be explained to them without any opportunity for exemption. Over one million Americans are now on the no-fly list many for the crime of having the same name of someone else on the no-fly list.
Millions of Americans are now eschewing air travel in favor of alternative means of getting around their country – However, fissures are appearing in the economy of travel leading to airline bankruptcies and other similar crises.
And no one knows where this will lead.

Welcome aboard. Papers please! San Juan Island edition · Tuesday June 10, 2008 by colin newell
It smells like World War II Nazism but it’s homegrown Fascism – In Amerika’s continuing efforts to eliminate freedom in the homeland, the U.S. border patrol in Anacortes, Washington has begun checking the identification of people coming off domestic ferries from the San Juan Islands!
Can you imagine riding the B.C. Ferry from Swartz Bay in Sidney to Fulford Harbor on Salt Spring Island and being greeted with sweaty, brown shirted, fat white men with German shepherds. The brown shirts snarl orders at the cowering tourists as the dogs bare their teeth and grimace. “Papers please! Have your papers in order!”
Sound far fetched? This reality has come to the scenic San Juan Islands in one of Washington states loveliest regions.
From todays Times-Colonist – The spot checks have some San Juan islanders, U.S. citizens or not, in a flap. “Many Latinos in the community are paranoid about getting on the ferry,” says Kevin Ranker of Friday Harbor. Others fear the spot checks will hurt the islands’ tourism economy, says Ranker, a county council member running for the state senate. Some residents might be happy to see the illegals nabbed, but still resent being ID’d in their own country.
In George Bush’s America this might seem acceptable – but it isn’t and shouldn’t be. Where does it end? How long before there are street-corner check-points in every major city in America? If it is OK in the San Juan Islands, then it has to be OK in Los Angeles and Kansas.
Truth is, the Bush family, now running America are not far removed from their Nazi era relatives. That’s right. Do your homework. George Bush and Co. are directly related to the good people that brought you the Third Reich.
In the early 40’s the American administration did not find Nazism and persecution so offensive that they jumped into the fray early like Canada did. No. They waited for Pearl Harbor to be attacked. Some of us stomach oppression better than others I guess.
Here in the 21st Century, apparently, it does not comes as much of a stretch to whittle away the rights and freedoms of every day Americans.
So. Today in the San Juan Islands in beautiful Washington State… Well, they pick on people of color… Latin Americans… Tomorrow, who knows. Maybe they will be coming for you.
Have your papers ready.

Food on the table #3 - Argh Billy - you ever taste High Liner Fish · Monday June 9, 2008 by colin newell
With the price of fuel spiraling like lead-shot at a Dick Cheney hunting party, only the most oblivious among us have not figured out the impact this is having on food distribution.
Food riots.
It is amazing what people will do when they or their children are hungry.
Get used to hearing about it.
I heard something in passing about Canadian food legend, Captain High Liner.
They sell fish sticks… but that is not all.
Quite a few of their products are processed in China… flown all the way to China for filleting and then back to you… to feed you better.
Let’s here it from them directly: Link
WHY DO SO MANY HIGH LINER PRODUCTS SAY “PRODUCT OF CHINA” – WHY DOES SO MUCH HIGH LINER FISH COME FROM CHINA?
Very few of our products actually come from China. In fact, only 2 (Tilapia and Shrimp) out of 13 major seafood products sold by High Liner are from that country. All High Liner wild fish are caught in international waters where they are frozen within hours of being caught. The fish is shipped to China, where it is filleted (cut) and packaged. For filleting, the frozen fish are slightly “tempered” to allow the fish to be cut.
WHY ARE THE FISH NOT CAUGHT AND FILLETED IN CANADA?
- Chinese processors have built state-of-the-art processing facilities to meet the growing demand of the global market. This has given them a greater buying power that allows for better-priced seafood.
- High Liner uses China to cut some of our fish as it helps to keep our costs in line. This allows High Liner to provide competitively priced products to our consumers. Research has shown that we all want the highest quality products, yet at the best price possible.
- The majority of Canadian fish and seafood companies use China to process and/or fillet their fish.
Wow. Right. We want cheap fish! Yea.
As aviation fuel becomes liquid gold I am imagining that local fish processors might be getting more work… very soon.
