Now I have never watched an episode of the Soprano’s but I can certainly appreciate the energy that Bob put into this.

Bob and I co-wrote an episode of CSI-Las Vegas, Season-3, Episode title: “The Last Laugh” — all good fun… now on DVD.

The Police in Vancouver (follow-up) · Monday May 28, 2007 by colin newell

One for the “didn’t see that coming” files…

This just in:

“My name is Pete Paphides and I work as the chief rock critic for The Times in London. I am currently in Vancouver covering the first night of The Police’s world tour. I was intrigued by your posting about the difficulty you had in purchasing tickets at a reasonable price – especially the bit about having to join the fan club. Having arrived here yesterday, I noticed that The Police were playing a “fan club” only show in front of 5000 fans. It seemed odd to me that a band that had remained dormant for over 20 years should still have so many people in their fanclub that 5000 of them would be willing to schlep to Vancouver to see them play. Then I remembered what you wrote about having to pay $120 to join the fan club in order to get a chance to see the band live. Did you manage to get tickets in the end? Are you interested in having a chat about your experiences? I am reviewing the show anyway – which, I’m sure, will be enjoyable – but I would nonetheless like to write a small news story to run alongside it, talking about the lengths that some fans have had to go to in order to get tickets. If you would like to talk about any aspect of this, I can be reached on +—————. I am staying at the Westin Bayshore. I can be reached at Room —— if you call 604 ————. My email address is ——————-
Many thanks
Pete

Gas - Burnt at the pumps · Thursday May 10, 2007 by colin newell

Cheryl de Wolfe has comfirmed my suspicions all along.

We are getting screwed at the gas pumps.
Or maybe doused and set alight.
(Don’t try this at home…)

The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives has confirmed, pretty much, what every Canadian from Tofino to St. Johns, Newfoundland already knows.
They have us by the fuel injectors and ain’t letting go.

So as Cheryl de Wolfe says as she fills her tank:
Whistle a happy tune and imagine a dog actually eating a refinery. It makes the price of mobility a little easier to swallow

Grrrrr. Arf! Snipple! Snap!

Bark!

Feeling down, feeling pretty? · Monday February 12, 2007 by colin newell

super-models just want to be happy...Fashion models feel less happy and less fulfilled than people in other careers, researchers in London said.

Other characteristics models tend to exhibit include low self-esteem, loneliness and suspicions of others, Sky News said Monday.

The findings, released as London Fashion Week begins, were the results of interviews by City University researchers with a group of models and other workers.

In the study, models on average scored lower on several questionnaires, particularly when asked about their psychological need satisfaction. PNS measures a person’s need to feel connected with others, their ability to feel comfortable making independent decisions and their need to feel competent in daily work.

Bjorn Meyer, the researcher who led the study, told Sky News, “These results do not mean that models are mentally disturbed but they are nevertheless concerning, and point to a potentially serious issue.” link

I don’t know – I think this scenario would describe most bloggers, would’nt you agree?

I feel pretty, oh so pretty...
